Calinawan Cave

Since my younger age ( i'm not saying i'm old na ha...hahaha) i am a stalagmite and stactite fan. I always wanted to see the real one with my own eyes. So going to the cave is on my bucket list. I know Calinawan Cave doesn't have that beautiful stalagmite and stalactite like sagada cave have  but calinawan cave have its own beauty and it is a good start to my more stactite and stalagmite encounter...

Where : Calinawan Cave - Tanay Rizal

How to get there: 

To get to Calinawan cave, either you bring your own car and a guide or from EDSA starmall, you can found Tanay bound van (GT Express)  the fare (Php 70). This is terminal to terminal ride. You can rent a jeepney, trike (mini jeep) or tricycle from the terminal. Fee in depends on the length of stay on the cave or kung gano ka kagaling tumawad.

Fee:

P20 - entrance for calinawan cave.
Any amount to the local guides.



Note. Bring headlamp or flashlight because some parts of the cave is really dark. 

History:

Calinawan Cave got its name from the word "linaw" a Tagalog term for clear. It is said that during the 15th-18th century, opposing parties used to convene inside the cave to settle disputes - thus the name Calinawan came about.

This cave also served as a shelter and a hideaway from the Japanese during World War II. It was also in this cave that the Japanese sodiers surrendered to the Liberation Forces.

Why you should go:

1.The warm welcome at the entrance gate by the two iconic Dominican figures. St. Catherine of Sienna and St. Dominic in giant statues.
2. Another holyweek destination.
3. You would see 7 storey (71 - foot) statue of the Queen of Holy Rosary on top of a hill surrounded by beautiful nature.
4. Best location for praying, retreat and reflection because the place is so serene and inspiring.

No fees for the entrance but you can give donations in any amount.

How to get there:

From EDSA starmall, you can found Tanay bound van (GT Express)  the fare (Php 70). This is terminal to terminal ride. At the Tanay Terminal (market). You can found Sampaloc bound jeep (no idea for the fare since we rent a jeep to regina rica).

Note. Dress Appropriately. No mini skirts, skimpy clothes, no caps.

How to get there:

From EDSA Starmall there is a Tanay bound, van's terminal (GT Express Van). This is terminal to terminal ride. At Tanay market you can choose to ride between jeep or tricycle or rent a jeep for the whole day. Since there is no public transportation straight to daranak falls.

Batlag falls is located near on the top part of Daranak falls. You need to pay separate entrance to batlag falls.

Daranak Falls is open from 8am-5pm..7 days a week..no overnights
